Color theory has many kinds of definitions. Its enough to fill several encyclopedias, but, the three main things that are useful and helpful are ‘the color wheel’ ‘color harmony’ and the context of how colors are used. Color theories create a logical structure for color. For example, if we have many different kinds of fruits and vegetables, we can divide them by the differences of color. The easier way to divide is to use the color wheel.
Color Wheel
- A color wheel or color circle is an abstract illustrative organization of color hues around a circle that shows relationships between primary colors, secondary colors and complementary colors.
- The interesting fact about the color wheel is that we can make any color we want with only 3 colors, they are called RYB color model. That is the mixture of the primary color and it makes the basic and the main color we want, which would be,
- blue
- red
- yellow
- purple
- green
- orange
Primary Color
Primary color is sets of colors that can be combined to make a useful range of colors. For human applications, three primary colors are usually used. They are mostly used as Red, Yellow and Blue.
Any addition of two primary colors makes one secondary color.
Secondary Color
Secondary Color basically means the product of combination of two primary color. Whatever the primary colors are, if we add two of them, it will make one secondary color.
Tertiary Color
A tertiary color is a color made by mixing one primary color with one secondary color. Unlike primary and secondary colors, these are not represented by one firmly established name each, but there are some examples include some typical names.Brown and grey are sometimes known as Tertiary colors and can be made by mixing complementary colors
