SHARKWATER REFLECTION UNIT 1.5
Hey guys, today I am writing this to share my ideas of sharkwater after I watched the movie about sharks made by a person called Rob Stewart. He made a movie called ‘sharkwater’ and it almost made me cried. This guy called Rob Stewart started to explore about sharks when he was 15. When he finished this movie, he was 21 years old. And as during these 6 years, he explored and found and saw some sad things that shouldn’t be happening in this world. He took every single things and investigate a lot of people to show people what we ‘Humans’ are doing to sharks by his movie. It really moved my heart and I think back of myself to see how I think of sharks and what I should do to save them. Well, There are a lot of things to do but the main thing I can do is stop eating shark fin soups and make some posters or join an organization when I get old enough. But, if something like this happens every time and everyday, all sharks might get killed even before I join the organization. Can you believe that around 100 million sharks are killed each year, usually more than 100 million. Also roughly, 11,000 sharks are killed each hour. Which actually means, when you are watching a movie around 1 hour and having fun watching it, 11,000 sharks are killed. I hope this will never happen again and I really hate the way that these things are happening every time and everyday. I will try my best and I hope you can help saving sharks too, since they are part of our eco system and most importantly, They are extremely important. Sorry that I can’t put the video here but I will give a link below….
Here is an example of shark killing around the world…

ANIMAL RIGHTS UNIT 2
Our second unit was about Animal Rights. It was a short unit but we had a lot of things to do. Visiting zoo was one of them. Making a speech was one of them. But the hardest thing was watching disturbing videos and trying to learn something and trying to understand people who are torturing the animals. For me, it was impossible to understand them. I could believe something like that happens somewhere around the world. You can see the video in here.
I think this unit was quite a good experience for me to learn more about whats happening around the world. I found a lot of interesting facts. But the world isn’t fair enough to give interesting facts only; I also found some disturbing and sad things that I shouldn’t have been watching or reading.
This unit let me to look myself back as part of my AOI which is human ingenuity. For me, it was pretty shocking after I saw that movie called ‘farm to fridge’. I couldn’t believe that I was eating a pork, eating a chicken, eating a beef that is killed like that. Well that requires to only some of the factory farms but it doesn’t change the fact that its actually happening somewhere around the world. I tried not to eat meats as possible but it was too hard for me so I stopped that challenge. I know it’s weird to say this word from the person who actually eating meats but ‘PLEASE EAT MEATS AS LESS AS POSSIBLE’.
I think I was pretty good at writing a speech in this unit. I was going for against of making zoo. I found many new facts which were mostly sad. What I enjoyed about this unit was that we had a great field trip to Ragunan zoo and observed many things. Animals in the zoo didn’t look so happy but the shelter was quite good to stay. I hope this kind of unit comes back soon and got to go more humanities field trip except for landfill.
The most important idea I learnt in this unit was that people isn’t doing the good things for the right thing. They don’t know what they are doing and why they are doing. It’s a same living thing as us. whats the differences between us, animals and that animals? I guess it’s nothing. so the idea I want to talk about is about people owning animals. They don’t have rights to own them and treat them whatever they like and people in the world should realize that.
There weren’t any worries in this unit because the teacher led the students very well and students liked this unit. The biggest problem was that we couldn’t get enough time to learn more and get to have some more fun in learning this unit. It went pretty fast but I liked it and I bet everybody did. I recommend you to at least watch the farm to fridge movie, but if you don’t feel like it, you can read my speech. My speech is nothing compare to the video but it might help you to get a little bit of more ideas.
