Fair Trade Projects

Fair Trade Chocolate

By: Min Yeong, Marina, Hansen, Aaron

I think their campaign as a whole is well done and their action plan is pretty well organized and it is very obvious from their campaign. Their project is about supporting companies that promotes fair trade. I think their mission is very good and clear. The goal can be achieved since their mission is to push other companies to be like Monggo and there are a lot of other companies that can be pushed so they can be fair trade too. I can see that they are very knowledgeable about the issue. However they weren’t that knowledgable about the issues that exist in Indonesia. I think their video was pretty decent and it would grab the attention of the Audience. Their video was very effective and to the point so it won’t bore the audience.  I don’t think their campaign addresses an important issue locally though they have plans to push other companies that sells their chocolate in Indonesia to be fair trade certified.

Fair Trade Jewelry

I think their research question was very good since it was specific and if we are able to answer that question we would be able to answer the other projects’ questions. Even though their presentation is a bit short, I think it was very effective. The group was pretty knowledgable about the issue even though it wasn’t shown that well during the presentation. It will definitely take the audience’s attention because it is short and effective. They have a clear goal and mission and I think it is achievable if we all work together. There are a few gem mines in Indonesia so the issue is also happening in Indonesia.

Fair Trade Handicrafts

By: Thalia

I honestly think her campaign is very good. It is effective for our audience such as students. She has a very short but awesome video, too. Her mission is more about supporting companies that are actually already certified. I think her bracelet idea is fairly good but she should come up with a bracelet that is more durable. Since her mission depends on our decision, I think it is achievable especially locally. Her issue definitely relates to Indonesia since Indonesia is such a diverse country with a lot of culture and those cultures are often expressed through different handcrafts.

Fair Trade Sports Wear

By: Kevin A and Richard

I think they’re project is really interesting and it will definitely attract the audience, since in our school there are a lot of students that likes sports and some of them probably uses adidas sports wear, too. I think the group is more knowledgeable about the company than the actual issue they have regarding their topic. They have a clear and they understand what they want and will do. I think their goal is achievable since if we can get this campaign going and get a lot of people to support it, we might be able to make adidas listen to us. Their project also relates to the issue we have in Indonesia.

Fair Trade Cosmetics

By: Annisa

I think Annisa is very knowledgeable about her project. Her action plan is also very organized and is obvious in her presentation. Her mission was also very clear. We can also modify her vision or mission so we can make a better approach. I think the goal that she made is achievable. This campaign I think will definitely take the audience’s attention. She also explained about the issue in Indonesia, about palm oil and deforestation. I think we could do more things with this project.

Fair Trade Coffee

By: Kevin Li, Rendy, Jun, Kwon, Tiger

Their  group is focusing on starbucks, a famous coffee store. I don’t think the group was knowledgeable enough about their project. Their campaign is good, but not good enough. I don’t think a long video would be able to attract people’s attention, especially young people. They don’t really have a clear goal of what they want to do. And the issue in Indonesia wasn’t very clear. Since their group don’t really tell us what their mission was, we can not achieve it.

Fair Trade Shoes

By: Cindy

She has a clear research question about ‘toms’ brand. I really like her campaign and I think it is very interesting and will be able to take the audience’s attention. Her awesome videography will also attract students. I think she is actually knowledgeable about her project however it wasn’t really shown in her campaign. She doesn’t really have a clear goal that can be achieved. She only has a message for us so we would buy toms shoes. I think this campaign can be expanded. The issue in Indonesia wasn’t really clear either.

Fair Trade Farming

By: Jeremy

I think Jeremy is not really knowledgable about his campaign. He didn’t really show any facts that are useful for us. He didn’t have any visual with him so he only talk. I don’t think this is the best way to get people to follow his project. He didn’t really have a clear mission or how we would be able to achieve it. Even though I think farming play a huge role in Indonesia’s economic growth, he didn’t really explain about it.

Chosen Project

The project that I chose to take further is Fair Trade Handicrafts. I think it is a very good project to work more on. There are a lot of things we can work on if we take this project further. I think the topic itself is also interesting and it would definitely take the attention of the audience.

Today is the last day for me making the newsletter. So, I decided to just make one page since there are no more time to continue my

second page. I already did my final editing and also arranged the boxes once more. I made sure that the fonts are readable and if the newsletter already fullfil my client’s needs. I also made an advertisement in case anyone is interested in it.

Today I wrote a news about the International Cultural Exchange Program that SWA is hosting. I decided to write about this because today I saw some students from out of Indonesia and I think it might be interesting if I write a news about it. I haven’t find a picture of this topic because I didn’t have time.

I finally start doing the second page and starting to arrange the second page. I made the placeholder bigger, make text boxes bigger or smaller so it could fit the news that I’m going to write. I really need more information so I can start writing on the second page.

For the first day of the create stage, I didn’t do that much things. Today I did some arrangements and brainstorming about my

newsletter. I realize that I didn’t put these steps in the plan stage so this step is one of the modifications in this project. In pages, I chose the template called ‘imagine’ because I think it matches my design well and is easy to edit and I think my client will be happy about this. For the next lesson, I’m planning to start writing some news and take some pictures.

For this natural disasters humanities project, we are working in groups. My group is myself, Ivonne, and Selena. We decided to work on Japan Earthquake that happened in 11 March 2011. So, for the final product, we made a movie… ENJOY~~

It wasn’t the best movie but we worked really hard to make this movie. Please give some comments or some suggestions so I can do a better job next time! thank you ^^
