SWA COMMUNITY OF LEARNERS

The Association of National Plus Schools (ANPS) came into existence in 2000 to promote and facilitate education ideas and establish networks within and among Indonesian National Plus schools. ANPS has three broad purposes which are to advance the interests of National Plus schools throughout Indonesia by identifying, maintaining, supporting and verifying acceptable educational standards in member schools; to provide numerous and varied professional development opportunities for teachers and administrators employed by ANPS member schools; to represent National Plus schools to governments and the external community, where and when this is necessary and appropriate.

ANPS runs conference annually for ANPS members and non-members. This conference runs in different schools and has different themes. This year, the theme was ‘The Elasticity of Learning’ and SWA was honored to be the host. Around 150 teachers came from various schools in Indonesia. The presenters were from many schools and universities. SWA kindly contributed by providing some excellent speakers to present and share their knowledge, experiences and expertise about education issues. They were Aderini Kencana, Juninarita, Agnes Zebua, Lindsay Wood, Julie Ladner, Jacqui Patrick, Jane Ross, Rick Hannah, Manoharan Karthigasu and Yanli Zhong. It was held on Saturday, 29 October 2011 from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. We were also pleased to have Ms Karen O’Connell, SWA/JWA Executive Principal who gave a Keynote address – Why we need ‘elasticity’ in learning? The workshops ran three times and each session lasted 90 minutes. As a community of learners, we hope we can contribute more to the wider community in the future.
