MSHS SPORTS DAY

Weeks before Sports Day, STUCO (student council) and Mr Speirs got together with a plan. The plan changed many times, but all for the benefit of everyone participating. All the students and teachers were involved in this action packed fun day, everyone assigned a ‘role’ to see that the day passed off well.

The field was meticulously prepared, white lines were installed for the different events and music was played to add to the atmosphere. The teams were split into Red, Blue, Green and Yellow. The day started on the field with the Student and Teacher Olympic Oaths followed by a ‘Warm-up’. Students were then split as they moved to their respective places; team games for 90 minutes followed by the multi team activities for 90 minutes.

It was fantastic to see, everyone helping and joining together to make the whole experience a positive one. “So much fun”, said a Grade 9 student. “Best school day”, said a Grade 7 student.  By lunchtime we were exhausted but very happy and ready for the afternoon’s adventure challenge initiative games… and then came the rain!

Unfortunately, the rain put off the afternoon’s activities, which were going to be a magical mix of challenging initiative games. However, since this was our first ever Sports Day, we look forward now to next year.

A big thank you to the Mum’s who made the lunches, they were delicious!
